There are plenty of options for getting to and around Invercargill. Domestic flights arrive and depart daily from Christchurch and Wellington and city buses and taxis provide public transport.

Invercargill and the Southland region are well served by Air New Zealand with up to 10 direct daily flights to / from Christchurch or Wellington, and from there with all cities and major towns around the country.

 

Invercargill Airport is located only 5 minutes drive from the central city area. Several rental car companies are located inside the airport terminal for all your rental car needs.





Invercargill is flat and easy to get around regardless of your choice of transport. A public bus service operates six days a week covering the inner city and outlying suburbs. The Freebie Bus is a fantastic service carrying passengers within the inner city free-of-charge on weekdays.
