Because it is a compact city, it’s easy to explore the great things Invercargill has to offer, even when time is at a premium. The highlights, including the tuatarium at the Southland Museum and Art Gallery, Queens Park and the historical Water Tower, are all within a five minute-walk of the central city.

 

For those with time on their hands and a form of transport, there’s plenty to discover on the outskirts of the city and Invercargill is an ideal base for day trips further afield, such as the Catlins, Stewart Island and the Fiordland National Park.
