With its internationally-acclaimed theatres, stadia and services, there’s always something happening in Invercargill. Home to New Zealand’s only indoor velodrome the city hosts some of the world’s most elite track cyclists for its competitions, while each year the annual favourites – the Bluff Oyster and Food Festival and the Burt Munro Challenge – attract more and more visitors, keen to be part of the southern fun. Add to the mix Southland’s successful rugby and netball teams, coupled with the city’s support for the performing arts, and discover Invercargill as a happening place.

A unique musical journey by two legendary UK artists. Sharing intimate stories of their life and times, including all their individual hits, plus duets of their favourite artists, musicians and composers. Live on stage together, for the entire concert. Roy Phillips and Georgie Fame were two of the most successful stories in British popular music of the 1960s and 1970s – both sporting a spare, minimalist image they each played their own individual brand of pop-jazz that was far removed from the rock 'n' roll they had played or the rock music that was sprouting around them, but they scored more than enough successes to keep going for several decades and today still have individual sell out concerts around the globe. And now for the first time together… Their voices are so well matched for duets it’s like a cocktail of gravel and molasses. Great depth in the harmony added variance to their performances. Their music embraces numerous genres, including pop, rock, blues, soul, country, gospel and jazz. Top that off with their enigmatic and irascible personalities, and you have a mainstay of modern music and an inimitable concert experience not to be missed. Contact: Ticket Office

A Southland Festival of the Arts Event
details
One minute you are graduating from high school and the next minute you are perilously close to 60. How did this happen? Jane Keller presents a fabulous one-woman cabaret show that focuses on the baby boomers--and what they get up to: cougars on the prowl, grandchildren from Hell, divorce parties, Botox botch-ups, middle-age revenge porn, internet dating successes...and tragedies. Combining her special style of story-telling with her virtuoso Broadway voice, and piano accompaniment from Michael Nicolas Williams, Jane tells tales in an evening of shock, tittle-tattle and raucous hilarity. The Music,The Lyrics,The Laughter, Menopause the Musical-In Concert
details
Menopause The Musical® - In Concert crystallises all of the magic, the entire script, songs, laughter and tears of the original stage show, slips it into a cocktail dress, and pours it into an evening of fun and elegance in equal measure. Imagine if Marlene Dietrich came from Dubbo, had borrowed Mae West’s sense of humour, and decided to share her experience of ‘The Change’ in Rick’s Cafe (Casablanca). If you can, you are close to the collusion of stylish cabaret, comedy, and musical genius that is Menopause The Musical® - In Concert. This joyful musical parody set to classic tunes from the '60s, '70s and '80s (where My Guy becomes My Thighs, The Lion Sleeps Tonight becomes My Husband Sleeps Tonight and Lookin’ For Love becomes Lookin’ For Food) will have the audience cheering and dancing down the aisles. Her parents tell her that her fantasies will never come true and not to dream the impossible dream. But nothing deters her. Blessed with an amazing voice and talent, she sets out to become a singer and a star. Soon, plain Mary O’Brien has transformed herself into the blonde pop icon, Dusty Springfield. But while Dusty, the gorgeous blonde star, is the image the world sees, it is an illusion behind which little Mary O’Brien still lives; the alter ego from which Dusty can never escape and who remains with her throughout her life. In the 1960’s Dusty Springfield takes the entertainment world by storm with a score of hits, a top TV show and a legion of fans. But the success she wanted is hollow and real happiness eludes her. Driven by her sense of perfection, Dusty takes on the world even as she discovers a desperate need to be loved in a way that could cause her career to crash. At the pinnacle of international success, with triumphs in Britain and America, Dusty finds the pressure unbearable. Unable to be what other people expect, and finding the spotlight’s heat can burn, she retreats from the world into a dark place. Finding strength in adversity, Dusty returns to soar to the top.
